Developing an Alternative Propulsion Roadmap

Analysis Group worked with senior strategic and technical management of a top global automaker to develop a roadmap for the migration to alternative propulsion systems. With mainstream replacement of internal combustion engines still many years off and continued uncertainty regarding the form next-generation mobility would take, Analysis Group helped the company chart an economically rational investment path. Rather than focusing only on technology, we worked with our client to map the changes in energy storage, transportation infrastructure, mobility requirements, and propulsion systems to define a multi-path strategy for alternative propulsion. The resulting roadmap was developed into a “war room” presentation at the company’s headquarters and used by senior executives with internal and selected external audiences to present the strategy. The work helped the company recognize where it needed to look externally to implement its strategy, and led to a series of six partnerships formed in the following year.
